Why LSEE Exists

The Need We Respond To

Across many communities in Nigeria and the wider diaspora, children and young people face persistent barriers to education, opportunity and wellbeing. Families living with limited resources often lack access to quality schooling, mentorship, mental health support and the pathways needed to build sustainable livelihoods. Without coordinated, community-rooted action, cycles of disadvantage are passed from one generation to the next.

LSEE Initiative was founded in September 2025 to respond to this need — not by offering charity in isolation, but by walking alongside communities and equipping them with the tools, relationships and resources to drive their own change.

Our Vision

Communities where every child, young person and family has equitable access to education, mentorship, wellbeing and the opportunity to thrive — and where the knowledge, capacity and confidence to lead change rest within the community itself.

Our Mission

To partner with children, young people, families and communities to remove barriers to learning and growth — delivering programmes across education, empowerment, mentorship, wellbeing and community development that build long-term capability and lasting impact.

Our Founding Principle

SUPPORT. ELEVATE. EMPOWER. — three words that guide every decision we make and every programme we run. We support people where they are, elevate their capabilities and aspirations, and empower them to lead change in their own communities.

Core Values

What Guides Us

Six principles shape how we work, the partnerships we form, and the way we steward the trust placed in us by communities and funders alike.

Compassion

We meet people where they are, with empathy and without judgement, recognising the dignity of every individual and family we work with.

Integrity

We are honest, transparent and accountable in everything we do — from how funds are spent to how decisions are made and shared.

Community-Led

We believe lasting change is community-owned. We partner with communities rather than imposing solutions from the outside.

Excellence

We hold ourselves to a high standard in programme design, delivery and impact — continuously learning and improving.

Partnership

We work collaboratively with funders, volunteers, schools, faith groups and local organisations to multiply our collective impact.

Sustainability

We design for the long term — building capability, local leadership and resilience that outlast any single programme or funding cycle.

Our Approach

Five Pillars, One Mission

We work across five interconnected pillars because we believe lasting change requires a whole-person, whole-community response — not a single-issue intervention.

Education

Access to quality learning — from early years through to tertiary — through scholarships, grants, learning materials and academic support.

Empowerment

Building the skills, confidence and agency of young people and women through apprenticeships, vocational training and leadership development.

Mentorship

Pairing young people with trusted mentors who guide academic, career and life decisions — and modelling what is possible.

Wellbeing

Mental health support, hygiene education, counselling and health outreach that meet the holistic needs of children, young people and families.

Community Development

Working with whole communities to strengthen local capacity, infrastructure and resilience — so change lasts beyond any one programme.

How we work: We listen first, design with communities, deliver through trusted local partners and volunteers, measure what matters, and share what we learn. Every programme is built to be evidence-informed, locally led and financially accountable.

Who We Serve

The Communities We Walk Alongside

We work with those facing the greatest barriers to education, opportunity and wellbeing — with a particular care for children, young people and families living with limited resources.

Children

Early-years and primary-aged children, with a focus on access to learning and wellbeing.

Young People

Secondary, tertiary and out-of-school youth navigating education, skills and opportunity.

Families

Parents, carers and households carrying the weight of limited resources and stretched support.

Communities

Whole communities — schools, faith groups, local leaders and grassroots organisations.

Our Programme Areas

How We Deliver Across the Five Pillars

Our programmes translate the five pillars into concrete, measurable work with children, young people, families and communities.

Grants

Financial support that helps families overcome immediate barriers to learning — covering school costs, materials and essential needs so children can stay in education.

Scholarships

Full and partial scholarships for primary, secondary and tertiary students, awarded on need and potential — designed to keep young people in learning for the long haul.

Apprenticeships

Hands-on vocational training and industry mentorship connecting young adults with skilled professionals and pathways into sustainable livelihoods.

Boot Camps

Intensive programmes covering technology, entrepreneurship, hygiene and age-appropriate health education — building skills, confidence and agency.

Wellbeing & Mental Health

Counselling, mental health support and hygiene education that meet children and young people where they are — promoting holistic health and resilience.

Community Development

Initiatives that strengthen local capacity, leadership and infrastructure — working with schools, faith groups and grassroots organisations to embed change.

Our Commitments

Safeguarding & Accountability

Trust is earned through how we protect the people we serve and how we steward the resources entrusted to us. These commitments are non-negotiable.

Commitment to Safeguarding

LSEE Initiative is committed to creating safe environments for every child, young person and vulnerable adult we work with. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility — from trustees and staff to volunteers and partners.

  • A written safeguarding policy covering all programmes, volunteers and partners.
  • Safer recruitment practices, including reference checks and role-appropriate vetting.
  • Mandatory safeguarding induction and refresher training for staff and volunteers.
  • Clear, accessible reporting routes for concerns — with no retaliation for raising them in good faith.
  • Designated safeguarding lead responsibility and timely response to every report.

Commitment to Accountability

We hold ourselves accountable to the communities we serve, the funders who trust us, and the public. We are committed to transparency in how funds are raised, spent and reported.

  • CAC-registered non-profit organisation (RC 9518695), operating within Nigerian regulatory requirements.
  • Segregation of roles and oversight for all financial transactions and programme spend.
  • Annual reporting on income, expenditure and programme outcomes, shared openly with supporters.
  • Impact measurement built into every programme — tracking reach, outcomes and learning.
  • Independent review and willingness to share records with funders on request.
  • Open channels for feedback and complaints from beneficiaries, partners and the public.

Partner With Confidence

If you are a funder, foundation or partner considering supporting LSEE Initiative, we welcome your due diligence. We are happy to share our policies, governance documents and programme reports on request.
